Do smart people believe in the Bible?

“Is God Dead?” was an April 8, 1966, cover story for the news magazine Time. A previous article, from October 1965, had investigated a trend among 1960’s theologians to write God out of the field of theology. The 1966 article looked in greater depth at the problems facing modern theologians, in making God relevant to an increasingly secular society. Modern science had eliminated the need for religion to explain the natural world, and God took up less and less space in people’s daily lives. The ideas of various scholars were brought in, including the application of contemporary philosophy to the field of theology, and a more personal, individual approach to religion.

In today’s technologically advanced society, many of the top intellectuals and conventional scholars are of the belief that the Bible is nothing but a fairy tale. For this reason, many atheists and scientists state that the Bible and the natural sciences of man are antithetical. Such statements and beliefs could not be further from the truth. God has forewarned us of the foolishness of mankind’s so called wisdom:

The so called “wise men” of this world are foolish because they do not believe in God when there is conclusive evidence concerning the veracity of his existence as outlined in the Bible. One simple method of proof is simple, yet overlooked by so called “wise men”. The method of Biblical prophecy. God has told the end from the beginning, accurately from times immemorial to present day. Knowing and understanding this will clearly show the omnipotence and omniscience of God in all disciplines and subjects.

We must remember that Satan has deceived the world (Revelations 12:9) and there are many wicked men that rather serve Satan and fulfill their own desires, than submit to the righteous ways of the creator, Jesus. For this, they will do whatever they can to make it appear as if the Bible should not be taken literally. This is why Darwin’s theory of Evolution is perpetuated throughout our social, educational and political institutions, even though it has been proven to be false.

Therefore, we must keep in mind that there are scholars on both sides of the debate of whether God exists. Even though not many “wise men after the flesh” will confess the veracity of the Bible there are scholars of all disciplines that have and continue to prove that the Bible and the sciences are not antithetical.
